Professional Qualifications
For more than twenty five years Mr. Carlson has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of complex business disputes. He has tried cases and argued appeals in both state and federal court, including multi-jurisdictional and class action litigation. He also has extensive experience in arbitration and mediation proceedings, regularly appearing before such entities as the International Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association and JAMS (Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services). Mr. Carlson has considerable expertise in contract disputes, business torts, unfair competition, successor liability, trade secret, covenants not to complete, stock option, shareholder, partnership/LLC, and false advertising matters.
Mr. Carlson has represented a wide range of clients, including venture capitalists, small start-ups, individuals, established businesses and large public companies. He regularly advises clients on preventive measures to avoid or minimize disputes, and his practical and effective advice is valued by clients.
Following graduation from law school Mr. Carlson served a clerkship with the San Francisco Superior Court. He then practiced law in Silicon Valley with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison from 1986 to 2003, and with Morgan Lewis & Bockius from 2003 to 2005.
