Katherine M. Svinarich
Ms. Svinarich’s practice is primarily focused on representing employers in a variety of disputes with current and former employees. She has litigated single plaintiff employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination matters, as well as individual and class action wage and hour cases in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing and Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, as well as the United State Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other administrative bodies. Ms. Svinarich additionally counsels employers on compliance with the California Labor Code and state employment regulations. She has also litigated personal injury and landlord/tenant cases, in addition to commercial disputes.
Ms. Svinarich sits on the Board of Directors of the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, a non-profit that provides free and low-cost legal services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Pride Law Fund, which promotes the rights of the LGBT people and HIV/AIDS communities by funding legal services and innovative civil rights projects on behalf of LGBT organizations by sponsoring clerkships and fellowships to law students and young attorneys. She additionally teaches Legal Writing, Research and Analysis to first year students at UC Hastings College of the Law. She has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in 2016 and 2017.
