Merri Baldwin Publishes Daily Journal Article Discussing New CA Bar Guidance on Use of AI

Shareholder Merri A. Baldwin, who co-chairs RJO’s Attorney Liability and Conduct practice group, recently published an article in the Daily Journal breaking down the California Bar’s new guidelines for integrating AI into legal work. 

The article, “AI in legal practice: New California Bar guidelines” discusses how the use of AI in legal practice is expected to expand exponentially, as well as the ethical concerns about its use, such as confidentiality and impact on fees. 

“While the Bar’s AI guidance is non-binding, it helps set the current standard of practice regarding the use of generative AI,” Baldwin writes. “Law firms and lawyers have no choice but to pay close attention to this fast-evolving technology and its implications for the practice of law.”
