Bob Metzger Speaks on AI’s Role in State Government Procurement at the 2023 NASPO State Procurement Law Institute

Shareholder Robert Metzger, who chairs the firm’s Cybersecurity and Privacy practice group, presented to state attorneys and procurement officials on artificial intelligence (AI) issues at the 2023 NASPO State Procurement Law Institute on November 10 in New Orleans.

Bob’s presentation, “The Legal Implications of Artificial Intelligence,” explored how state procurement officials can leverage AI in current and future procurements, how to identify and mitigate AI risks, and use cases and specific legal risks. He also discussed the tension between AI’s promise and peril, focusing on President Biden’s October 30, 2023 Executive Order on AI and the roles of the states and the federal government in this fast-changing area.
