RJO Represents Molina Healthcare in Protests of Major Medicaid Awards in Texas

RJO is honored to have been selected by Molina Healthcare to represent two affiliates, Molina Healthcare of Texas, Inc. and Molina Healthcare of Texas Insurance Company, in protesting a series of Medicaid Managed Care awards by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).  Made under the STAR+PLUS program, the awards are to integrate the delivery of Acute Care services and Long-Term Services and Supports for people who are age 65 or older, blind, or disabled.  The STAR+PLUS awards are for up to eight years, and cover over 520,000 Texans at an annual cost of nearly $10 billion.

In these administrative protests, RJO challenges certain aspects of HHSC’s evaluations and of the weight in the awards decisions that the Agency accorded STAR+PLUS members’ ability to maintain relationships with their current managed care organization, service coordinators, and providers.
