Federal Jury Awards over $2.2 Million to RJO-Client, Planned Parenthood

A federal jury awarded over $2.2 million to RJO-client Planned Parenthood in a high-profile case against anti-abortion activists.

The defendants infiltrated Planned Parenthood health centers and conferences and secretly recorded conversations with physicians and others. Immediately following the release of the videos, Planned Parenthood clinics and staff experienced a spike in protests, harassment, and violence.  Planned Parenthood sued to recover the costs incurred for security for staff and conferences as well as for injunctive relief to prevent the defendants from engaging in similar tactics in the future.

The jury found against defendants on every claim plaintiffs asserted at trial: RICO, fraud, trespass, breach of contracts, and violation of both federal and state wiretapping laws.  The jury also awarded punitive damages against the defendants.
